Basic Infrastructure
Apart from the major aspects of the shelter I have worked on every detail of the shelter. This includes details such as lockers, lights, doors etc. Although these things may not appear to be big they have a big impact on the life on the inhabitants in the shelter
Lockers
One of the problems faced by the homeless in existing shelters is the inhabitants not having a safe space to store their personal belongings causing them to get stolen. To take care of this I have added lockers in which each inhabitant can keep their belongings safely. Each person will have a separate and personal locker. Each inhabitant will be offered a key enabling them to operate the locker, on exit they will be required to submit the key back. They can sleep without worrying about other things being stolen.
Lights
Lights have been installed on the top to ensure safe movement of the inhabitants. These lights will be kept on when the inhabitants are getting settled and entering the shelter. The lights ideally will be shut after all the inhabitants have settled and slept. However if someone requests to keep them on through the night due to various reasons they can also be kept on.
Doors
Two doors have been provided on parallel ends of the shelter. Only one door however will be used at all times. The other door will be locked at all times.
