Air Circulation & Ventilation
Proper air circulation is important for any space. It helps to prevent stuffiness and expel any pollutants, bacteria, moisture and unpleasant odors. Ventilation will also help regulate temperature inside the shelter.

A lack of proper ventilation can lead to the spread of airborne diseases as high concentrations of contaminants can accumulate quickly in compact spaces. Hence, to ensure a good environment for the residents, having good air circulation is very important.
Windows
First design: In the three tier shelter, a total of 6 windows with 3 on each side have been provided. Each having a dimension of 3ft x 1.5ft. These will be placed above the second layer of beds; it can be opened and closed given the need of residents.

Final design: In the two-tier design, a total of 12 windows are provided, with 6 on each side. A window has been placed above every bed for every resident.
Exhaust Fan
Exhaust fans have been added on parallel ends of the shelter further which are complementary to the windows installed. Exhaust fans work by sucking hot and humid air from the shelter and throwing it out. This in turn allows fresh air to enter the shelter. The warm air that's drawn out using an exhaust fan is then pulled through a ducting system and expelled outside.

The exhaust system and windows together function as an efficient system ensuring air circulation.
