Designing the specifications of a 3-tier model—hosting 18 people in a 20ft x 9.5ft container.
LOCKERS -

Keeping extreme weather conditions of Delhi in mind, the containers have been MS insulated.
EXHAUST FANS -
Exhaust Fans have been provided on parallel ends to ensure cross-ventilation and avoid stuffiness.
2-TIER -
To provide comfort to each resident, this is a final 2-tier model which hosts 12 people.
WINDOWS -
Windows have been provided, which can be opened and closed per requirement and need. This will ensure air circulation and ventilation.
Reiterating design one last time—presenting the design to multiple industry experts; learnt that a 2-tier model provided a quality standard of living. The 3-tier design was efficient but the final 2-tier design provides dignified space for inhabitation.

The Quest Begins.......
An idea blooms—
Drew rough hand sketches outlining the structure of a shelter with a few beds placed on the floor
02
Process
Taking my vision forward—made 3D models using Sketchup. Discussed the idea with my sister and came up with the idea to make it a 2-tier structure.
Adding fixtures—thought about movement within the shelters.
LIGHTS -
To ensure easy movement and prevention of injuries. These are manually operable.
2 - TIER
To make the shelter sustainable and economically viable, I started exploring Moving ahead on my journey on making sustainable, economical shelters, I started exploring the possibility of designing a 2-tier structure which could utiliza land adequately
03
Observing the Indian Railway System—started to experiment with a 3-tier mode, inspired by Indian Railways which accommodates more people comfortably. To ensure further space optimization and be more cost-effective, I thought of adding a mezzanine layer and helping more people get shelter.
2 - TIER System
The 2nd level is foldable and could be opened based on requirements and needs.
